Please join me for a YOGA RETREAT to VOLUNTEER at BEST FRIENDS ANIMAL SANCTUARY in Kanab, Utah
Monday July 28 - Friday July 31, 2008
I recently volunteered at Best Friends and was inspired to return with a group of friends for yoga on and off the mat.
The Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, featured on National Geographic’s “DOG TOWN” is home, on any given day, to about 2000 dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, birds and other animals who have come to the Sanctuary for special care from shelters and rescue groups all across the country. Many of them are soon ready to go to good new homes with loving families while others find lifetime care at Best Friends.
The mission of Best Friends is driven by the simple philosophy that kindness to animals helps build a better world for all of us. However it’s not just a sanctuary for animals. About 20,000 people visit here every year from all over the world. Best Friends is located at the heart of the Golden Circle of national parks in the majestic red-rock country of Southern Utah. You can visit the sanctuary and volunteer with the animals while only being an hour or so from some of the world's great parks and national monuments.

Volunteering
We will begin the day with yoga in the outdoor amphitheater.
Then you can choose in which area you want to volunteer. After the morning session 8-12, a delicious lunch is available at the cafe for the employees and volunteers for $4.00. The afternoon session is from 1-5.
Accommodations
I have reserved 4 cottages and 2 cabins for my guests AND there are more accommodations in hotels in the town of Kanab. This is a very desirable time of year and the accommodations are booked often a year in advance. Please read the following descriptions and email me Yogadance@cox.net if you are interested in reserving a cottage or cabin.
Cottages: Each has one bedroom, a sitting room and kitchen. The bedroom has two double beds and a sofa bed in the sitting room. The Cottages are $125 per night double occupancy, with $10 fee per night for each additional person. Best Friends members receive a discount on these rates.
Cabins: A smaller alternative to the Cottages, the Cabins are also conveniently located on sanctuary property. Each has a studio setup with one queen-size bed, a kitchenette with a coffeemaker and microwave and a 3/4 bath (shower stall). Cabins are only $82 per night and cannot accommodate more than two.

Its natural beauty and exotic heritage have been attracting visitors for centuries. Travel guides have referred it to it as “a place of mysterious temples and palm shrouded beaches”. Here you will unwind to the sound of the beach at the Lone Pine Boutique Hotel or the Bayview Beach Resort and rejuvenate with yoga and massages on the beach.

You’ll see why Thailand is know as “The Land of Smiles.”
All this will prepare you for an exciting finish in the bustling city of Bangkokthe clothing capital of Thailand. The temples and palaces should not be missed. Or you may opt to fly to Chiangmai*

Last Year Was A Great Success!

After a long flight, we arrived at our beach front hotel in Penang, Malaysia. Daily massages, reflexology and yoga rejuvenated us and we spent the next five days exploring the majestic temples and culture of Penang, sampling wonderful food, and shopping. The Malaysian people were very gracious and welcoming to us and to the diverse group of fellow travelers on holiday from all over the world..
We traveled to Phuket, Thailand for five more days of daily massages, great food, shopping and beachfront ambiance. The town of Kamala Beach has almost completely recovered from the Tsunami. Evidence remains however as evacuation signage dots the beach, memorials to the victims have been constructed, and palm trees along the beach are beginning to grow new tops. At our beautiful hotel, 72 people lost their lives! In spite of the tragedy, the people are warm and friendly after all this known as “The Land of Smiles”.

After 10 days of beach activities and practice shopping, we spent three days in Bangkok. Bangkok is the “Shopping Super Bowl!" We won! We also visited the Grand Palace and Temples, took a Long Boat tour of the vast canal system through the city and even had enough energy to go the very large- hot- Night Market.
The most important thing about travel is not just the experience but those with whom we share the experience. This was an amazing group! I want to thank Willie, Krista, Thomas, Jim, Susan W., Mark, Shanee, Marilyn, Brenda, Mary, Susan G., Francine, and Yellowdog for being so much fun.
